According to Isaiah 30:9-10,

a rebellious people prefer

“smooth” prophecies

to “right” ones.

How can we recognize

a “smooth” prophecy?

Smooth words fail to declare

our need to separate ourselves

from sinful people and activities.

Smooth words emphasize

how special we are and tell us

we have a right to be happy.

Smooth words make us

feel good about activities

that have no eternal benefit.

Smooth words draw attention

to ourselves, and not to God.
